4x4 does not work

my sport awd does not go into 4x4 when I turn 4x4 switch--no low range either--light does not light up on dash--every now and then the 4x4 and low light flashes when I drive in auto mode or 4x4 mode--any ideas????

We had a similar problem When we pushed the button on the dash to go into 4x4 nothing happened. We took it into the dealer (it was still under warnity) and they said that the 4x4 shifter had rusted and was stuck. Couple hundred dollars later we were out.
