i have a 1999 XLT 4.0 SOHC... i recently rebuit the front differentail... everything is good until u engage 4x4.. the light comes on but it wont engage? it will like bind and pop.. maybe a vacuum line? maybe transfercase? maybe wheel hub assembly? any help would be great

I would aim more towards something in the T-case, Try jacking it up on all fours and see if all the wheels spin. The front end on these are live at all times, so once the T-case engages the front end has power. The hub assemblies are one solid peice their is nothing to lock in in the front. I had a similar situation ended up being my T-case, when I put the car in the air all four wheels had power placed it back on the ground No power to the front. The clutch packs in my T-case whre shot.......replaced the T-case.

Second- Im not sure what you replaced or rebuilt in the front end but if the front end is off the ground spin the front drive shaft with your hand as well as tires and such make sure everything is working properly. The tires should spin in oppisite directions, meaning the spider gears are working.

Hope this helps a little, let us know.
