4x4 high flashing - code p1824/ noise coming from under vehicle

My 2002 ford explorer's 4x4 high light has been flashing. Pulled the code and it came up as clutch relay circuit malfunction. Read some posts about corroded or broken ground wires, but could that also create the noise I'm hearing when I accelerate? The noise is only when I depress the gas pedal, when I release the pedal, the noise stops.
