4x4 high light is blinking.

ok, so my 4wd started to engage as it pleased, got stuck in 4wd low (which I figured out if I put the car in neutral, turned the key off, waited a few, started the car back up, that it would disengage the 4 low) . The dash buttons to put it in did not work, just random engaging and then shortly just completly stopped all 4wd activity. I saw on this forum, that that could be a sign of the 4wd control module being bad. I ordered one and put it in yesterday. Also had tires balanced yesterday.

Now, 4wd works when I push the buttons, but does not go into 4wd auto (tried to make it on some ice) and the light is blinking 8x every few minutes once the car is driven for a while. I can still manually engage, but it feels like it may be engaging randomly. Can hear a noise, sounds like coming from front end - maybe passenger side - when I make sharp turns (backing out of parking space, etc...) like it does when I have it in 4wd on dry pavement and try to turn. Any ideas? Heard talk of speed sensor. If so is it possible to try to clean these before replacing them? How do you check to see if they need replacing? Trying to stay out of shop...Just don't have that kind of money!

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmissions & transfer cases section. Compare the part numbers of both modules to make sure that you installed the correct part.

Thanks. The new one I put in is part # 1L2Z-7E453-A , which I guess is the new one replacing my old version.
