I recently purchased a 2001 Explorer Sport, which happens to be locked in 4high. At first I thought it was the transfer case motor, so I bought a new one and installed it. During the instal, I realized that the transfer case would not allow the system to be set in 2wd; the engine revs but no motion and grinds when attempting to put into park. Additionally the same is true when trying to shift into 4low.
I drained and refilled the transfer case, and attempted to manually turn the system into 2wd and push it 50 feet back and 50 ft forward to get it to engage with no luck. Any advice? And is there a electronic lockout on the case?
