Does anybody know where the damn 4x4 relay is located. I am wondering if it is the little black box in the jack storage compartment in the back. Supposedly you are supposed to unplug the wires from that box and then turn the truck on and push the white button on the box. If the little led on the box flashes, your shift motor is bad, and if it stays lit your relay is bad. Well my relay is bad. So if anyone knows where that is I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you know where I can get one and how much that would be cool too but if you cant, I will probably eventually figure it out.

As TPYLNCH said in your other post, the little black box in the back you tested is the relay.

nero:

I think that you are confused about the self test function of the control module. The following is directly from a Ford service manual:

"A flashing indicator lamp (approx. one flash per second) indicates that the control module is functioning properly. A steady indicator light indicates that the control module is inoperative and must be replaced."

The procedure for test that you stated is correct.
- Remove 5 wire and 8 wire connectors.
- Turn ignition switch to run position.
- Activate self-test switch. (push white button)
