Hey all. I've been having issues with my 4x4 self engaging on dry roads. I figure it's a rear speed/ABS/wheel sensor issue. I pulled fuses 17 & 18 from under the hood as suggested in other threads. I also went as far as pulling fuse 8 (4x4 shift motor) fuse as well. Its still engaging the front wheels.

I'm at a loss. Usually I would just order some parts or take it to a shop but I got laid off 2 weeks ago, so I need a band aid solution in the interim. I thought those 3 fuses would be it. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks everyone.

Could you remove the front driveshaft? That would at least keep it from bothering you until you can get the problem figured out and fixed.

I attempted that this afternoon. Undoing the u joint at the front diff was straight forward but I wasn't sure how to remove it on the t-case end. Also I didn't know if that would leave the t-case open, exposed and leaking fluid.

I am not sure but I think it is a separate piece that holds the T-Case oil in. It looks like some type of CV joint that the front driveshaft connects to before it goes into the T-case. Shop manual doesn't say anything about draining the T-case, but it does say to remove the T-Case end first if you are going to remove the driveshaft completely so that when you pull it out of the CV housing it doesn't pinch the CV boot.

Thanks. I'll crank it up again tomorrow and undo the t-case end and see what happens.
