Pleaee help I made it home driving slow b/c my 2001 sport trac was stuck in 4x4 low during the blizzard. now my friends brother disconnected the battery and its out of 4x4 low but now I hear a click noise near the passenger floor area when the switch its turned the lights come on indicating high & low. The dealer tells me not have it towed but I think regular drive is fine..pls help towing is far and $$ but I down want to damage anything. I sthis something that can be fixed at home and is dealer looking for my money.thanks for your time

When you were trying to get out of 4Low, were you in neutral with your foot on the brake. Same procedure to get out as it is to get into 4Low.

When in auto now, are the lights on or flashing? If you drive now in Auto is the front end making any noises/chattering when turning sharply, indicative of the system still being locked in 4x4?

actually my friend was driving my car. we were stuch in deep snow on a divider "centerlined" as someone called it. they keep turning the 4wheel switch into high & low. which I said was wrong to do ..we managed to back down the whole divider. with plenty of clearence from the underbody of the truck.
When in auto now the light is out and not flashing.I havent noticed any noises or chattering . The only noise I hear Is a click in the passenger floor area when the switch
is turned to either 4 high or low the light works when put in either position. I can see 3 differnet wires in that area of the floor..thanks for your reply.

You should hear a click when you switch to 4hi, and a clunck when you got to 4low. Sounds like your ex is acting normally.
