4x4 tries to engage on acceleration.

My 4x4 engages when I accelerate on a hill or when going up a hill towing a camp trailer.
Any ideas why

Because that's what the auto 4x4 function is suppose to do. If you want straight up 2wd look for "the brown wire mod" here on the site.

Because the engineers in Dearborn decided that the operating conditions you experienced dictated some higher duty cycle for the t-case. Like it or not, that's how it works. (Mine's done it since day-1)

Search for 'Comprehensive Brown Wire Mod' and read carefully, young grasshopper....
