4X4 Woes

Hi All. I have a 1993 Explorer Sport 4x4 that we lovingly call thumper. She stopped engaging in four wheel drive. With the automatic 4x4 switch on a manual transmission, how do you test the transfer case motor and where can I find a wiring diagram. It seems like some wires are different colors that others on the connector. Thanks!
