I notice that behind the cover that the radio sits in, in a 98 to 01 explorer, there is a wire harness for the 4wd switch in a 5.0. I know this because I have a v6 with the switch and it has the same wire harness. I do know there are 5.0's out there with the 4wd switch and don't believe that bull crap about there being none. We used to have 1 and I have seen others too. Now finding an explorer at a junkyard is like finding a kid in a candy shop. But finding a v8 with the 4wd switch is like trying to catch a wild hog in wet mud. So if I never find 1, will just putting a switch in work or will I have to get a transfer case, and from what? Will 1 from the v6 or 4.6l work? Also I have done looked into this but results are a manual transfer case, I want the automatic that will work with the switch.
