I have a 91 EB 2WD auto, with the ever so powerfull 4.0

The engine has 130k miles and am pretty sure its getting close to going... I REALLY want some power..

What will it take to convert it to a 5.0 5 speed?

I found an 89 5.0 complete engine with bad valve seals, along with a wireing harness and computer... what else will i need?

I plan on going with some Keith Black pistons, UD pulley, E/F303 cam, 1.6 RR's, and a few other bolt ons, that shouldn't be a prob cuz its all inside ;) but will it fit?

I figure I'll need an oilpan, motormounts, doner 5 speed or different tranny, custom driveshaft, radiator, lots of lube luck and time....

Anyways... i guess i'm new here and just need a bit of advice.

I too am in the process of consumming items for a 5.0l swap. I will pass on some info I have read on many web pages and I this site. To start off. Get a 3" body lift. This is not a must, but from what I have read having a body lift on the vehicle makes the world of diffrence. And I have seen pics were people have hacked there A/C box to get the engine to fit. They say after they install the engine that a 3" body lift would help alot. Then best engine to use would be a 5.0l ho from a 92-93 cougar. This engine produces 230 hp (if my info is right) and the 4.0l only is 170hp. So there alone is a big difference. Get exaust manifolds from a 96 Explorer 302 they fit the best and will cause no problems with rubbing on the steering shaft. I am not sure what kinda trans you can use. I am using an auto so I will be using an AOD. I am sure there are many more things you need to know. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I will share everything I know with you.

the couger did not produce 230 hp. your best bet is too buy a complete conversion kit from one of the various companies that sell them for rangers and explorers the swap is the same and has been done so many times before that you should not have any problems with it. they have headers, motor mounts, radiators, complete conversion harnes for plug and play engine running.

conversion kits huh... where might 1 find these?

Nah, not a retard...I've read a lot of the threads that have to deal with the 5.0 conversion (interested in doing one myself one of these days) and there's a TON of information, so much so that it's tough to fit into one thread. There was a really good thread not too long ago about it, lemme see if I can find it and I'll post the link...

EDIT: found it, here's the link:
