The 5.0L swap is pretty much identical no matter what style of drive system you're using, whether it be 2WD or 4WD....

As for no one doing a 2WD V8 swap... SpdRcer34 has just completed his. Look him up and browse through the other threads. There's tons of information on here that'll help you do it you just have to find it and sift through it. It's worth it though, this isn't a project you want to rush.

ok will do thank you. the 5 speed trans in mine went out so i bought a new truck and the ex was going to be sold but i thought why not just do a swap hell if it takes to years thats cool to. but my question is here in weatherford thay to the emisons test so will it pass if i do this. and should i stay with the fi or carb.

2 years....that is almost EXACTLY how long it took to complete mine...

Money and time were 2 things I didn't have a LOT of, so I saved up money here and there, I did a LOT of my own fab work, but I bought parts that made everything go much easier.

L&L mounts. Hands down. No contest. When dealing with an Explorer, they are ALL 4x4 frames. Even though you are 2WD, the mount you order will need to be for a 4x4. Due to the frame.

TorqueMonster Headers. Again, HANDS DOWN best header for the money. They are expensive. But to get a BETTER header, you will spend 2x as much....if not more.

Cut out the bottom of the radiator support, and push the radiator as far forward as possible. Mine is actually sitting on that welded cross brace under the radiator.

I did a LOT of changes to my Explorer when I swapped motors...

Next I will do a 5spd swap...after my Saleen Spoilers are done.

Isnt that the non HO version of the 5.0? Im sure the torque is better but I think the OHV 4.0 make about the horsepower as that motor.

I own a 92 4 door 4X4 with a 90 some thing Mustang 5.0 FI. Looks great runs great the swap is absolutely clean looks like it came that way. Only thing I noticed is who ever did the swap had to notch out the frame on the passenger side to fit the exhaust flange on the manifold. It has true dual exhaust, automatic, and the 4X4 works. I did not do it but can take any pictures you may want. It also jas a 4" lift. Got it for 700.00 it needs radius arm brackets thats it...
