I know they make a cat back system for the 5.0 explorer, BUT do they make a cat forward exahsut system for the 5.0.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nope. You mean like an offroad pipe?

Yeah I basically mean the pipe between the cats and the headers. I figure that if I am makin the cats and mufflers high flow that I should do everything before that too.

Anyone know of a kit for this or will I have to have it made.

If you're getting 2 parallel highflow cats then just have the muffler shop take the collector flanges off the stock pipes and put them on some new 2.5" or 3" pipe into the cats, then have them run new pipe straight to the muffler after the cats.

New exhaust with CATS?

Ok, I've read this thread and others and I am still trying to decide about redoing my custom exhaust system. I have a single flowmaster exhaust (delta 50 series) and didn't really notice much difference in performance after the system was put on last summer.

I want a dual exhaust system, preferably with headers, but that won't happen . Would replacing the 4 cats with 2 high flow cats benefit my X if I did a true dual exhaust, high flow cats out the back (with an H pipe)? Or will thta rob low end power? I am looking for overall performance here in my X and do want true duals, but the cat debate confuses me.

If you take a good look under your Explorer, you will find that a true dual system is not really possible. Mainly it is a space issue. The Explorer is a fairly narrow vehicle compared to something like an F150. The fuel tank dominates the drivers side of the undercarriage. There is no high performance head pipe/ catlyst made for your Explorer. It would be a strickly custom affair. A quality job would not be cheap. The gains may be not be worth the cost or hassle. You stand to gain a lot of useable power by opting for other mods that are available.

Price

I know the prices of getting a custom exhaust done. The price of the two cats, two mufflers and the pipes plus shop labor. I have a shop that will do it with myself and a friend this fall, I am just trying to find if it would benefit fuel economy, performance or anything at all to have the cats replaced (as well as the dual mufflers and X pipe).

I'll probably hold off for a while since I already have a single flowmaster, but I would like a dual system.
