I was sitting here today and started wandering the 5.0s put in the explorers are they 2 bolt or 4 bolt main??? No info found online. I love my 1999 5.0 explorer. The motor is bullet proof. Currently has 175000 miles and does not use a drop of oil. Just curious how many miles has anyone here got out of a 5.0 explorer 250000+?

2 bolt. Mine is sitting at 210k right now and runs like new on the original motor and transmission. I doubt I will have any problem going well beyond 250k, especially considering I've recently replaced pretty much the whole suspension and plenty of other wear items.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your Explorer. Keep taking good care of it.

I am about to reach 275K miles on mine; original engine and tranny; only work inside either of them is the water pump at about 210K. It's using about a quart of oil every 1200-1500 miles or so. Done a fair amount of suspension work over the last 2-3 years. I would still drive it cross-country with very little worry.

Good to here. I love my explorer and I'm a guy very picky on keeping it serviced when its time. I going to have to do some front end work on mine. It drives ok just squeaks like crazy.

Ive got 187,000 on my '97, runs like a top, smooth and powerful. Has some leaks but doesn't seem to burn any oil. Quite surprising as the previous owner was a total tool at "fixin" stuff. 5.0's are tough as nails as long as you keep oil in them. Drove a 302 Capri for 2 weeks in the summer with no belt at all.
Sold that motor couple years later and he is still running it hard.

two with over 182k and one with 154k. all run like new, don't use any oil, or leak enough to leave a spot on the driveway. all three on original engines and transmissions. one water pump replaced, two radiators replaced, one fuel pump and one A/C clutch, one muffler. other than that just regular wear items and maintenance. I hope to get 300k out of them.

130 on mine.. Just did water pump.. Original everything else.. And it's still not paid off lol

211k on mine. Original motor and trans. Mine burns about a 2 qt's between changes. I recently rebuilt the front and rear suspensions. My transfer case is jacked up, rebuilding that next. Recently did plugs and wires on it too. I'm amazed how strong it's still running. Smoked a brand new Silverado the other day.

Sometime before 300k I'm gonna pick up another motor for it and rebuild it so I have one ready to go. Probably do the same with the trans. Strongly considering a 5-speed swap. I'm gonna drive this truck til the body falls off and I watch the chassis drive away from me.
