Just curious, has anyone put a 5.0L in a sport? How hard would it be if you used the same year motor (say a 96 5.0 in my 96 sport)? I've read about putting one in 1st gen 4 doors but not in a 2nd gen sport. I'm looking for more power for bigger tires and lower gearing. Also would make it easier to bolt on a s/c later on. Just a thought...

The swap would be the same for a 2 door than it would be for a 4 door except for the driveshaft length.

Savage Wolf put one in his first gen sport. but none have been put in a Sport to my knowledge.

Marty you can be a first. Do it so I may follow :D

just wondering if you have had any luck finding someone who has done a second gen. sport 5.0 conversion???? if not you and i need to get in touch, i have a 97 sport that has quit running (4.0 ohc) after having the dreaded cam chain noise, i am so fed up with the newer ford motors and their problems, it looks like i will be doing the conversion.

The engine bays of the 2 door sports and the 4 doors are identical.

Use an engine and trans from an explorer. Get the entire wiring harness, better yet a donor vehicle. Advance Adapter has a kit to adapt the t-case to the 4R70W trans behind the v8's.
