nice maybe one day you will do body work on rear quarter pannle and show me how.The only thing i hate BODY WORK!!

interesting.

I've got a butt load of zip-ties just looking for a purpose. This may be a way to put 2-3 of them to good service.

My uncle has been doing body work for about 30 years and hes going to show me how to do some simple stuff so ill post some how to's on that. This explorer is pretty much the most exciting thing ever. :-)

You will definitely see a difference. Zip ties, rtv, pb blaster, and anti-seize are my best friends when it comes to repairs.

I've NEVER seen one stretched that bad. The only RBVs we've owned (A dozen'ish) that needed it was my B2, all the others still get full throttle on the original cable.

My ranger is a 2001 with 81,000 miles and I fit 2 on the throttle cable. Same with this 96 explorer with 86,000 miles.

After scootin' around town I can affirm that there is a big difference, especially past 5k RPMs. I only put one large zip-tie on though, I can't imagine fitting another one on with how cramped it is down there.

Feels like a new vehicle doesnt it?

Make sure you dont put too many on, itll mess with your idle. There has to be a little slack.

Good stuff :D

Nice link in your sig and even nicer ride. Thanks for including my how-to in it! U da man.

The throttle cable mod was one of the first I did....

Nytroman - If the fly-by-wire system has issues its all in the torque management / tune....

went out today and checked it used a ice scraper to hold down the pedal. Had to check the ice scraper to make sure it didn't fall or move that's how bad the cable was. It was stretched a lot it was as bad as yours two large zip ties. dropped my 0-60 from 7.85 to 7.12. Thanks

on my 95 xlt with 230k, it took three large zipties to get rid of the slack.

Wow, lol. Doesnt it throw your position off of where the brake is a little at first? Because the gas pedal is 2 inches closer.

No just messes up my foot position, took a bit to get used to, but it was the same on my 96 EB I did this to. If i recall correctly, that one took two zip ties to fix.
