5r55e Install - Newbie needs help!

Very dependant on this vehicle!! It's been a very depressing time with it!

Ok, found the source of the broken teeth, they were from the pump, the small gear that rotates inside the larger one; this now explains how I was not getting fluid moving.

Now to start cleaning everything and putting it back togather, I'm using the bellhousing and pump from the orginal one I took out so hope fully I should good to go here in bit, sounds like it's going to be a late night though and I better go get some fluid before the everything closes.

Thanks everyone for your input, my SportTrac is back on the road!!

Everything is seems good and solid at this point, the Ford DVD was VERY helpful and it would have been so much easier and faster had I read it first!

Hey congrats on getting the vehicle back on the road!
Kudos to your dedication and hard work on this one.

sorry to hear about the pump problems, glad to hear everything is back in and working. look at the positive side, you now have a wealth of knowledge about your truck and will feel much more comfortable in the future if things go south.

That is strange that the teeth were split off the pump gear, that does not sound like a common occurrence. Anybody have any ideas how something like that would happen? can the TC cause that damage during assemble/disassembly?

It was all my fault for attempting to put the TC on first in my first attempt; in man-handling it I was able to get the input/out shafts almost perfectly lined except for the shaft on the TC didn't completely line up.

Even though in the first attempt I didn't force the transmission on, it was not lined up right, out of stupid luck I had the other transmisison with a good pump and housing otherwise I would have been SOL.

Yes, I learned a lot; tonight I'm going to install a inline filter on the coolant lines, I noticed the sticky thread here and it was mentione in the Ford DVD too.

I've done the same mod, and it is well worth the price of admission, My tranny has been rock solid and the fuild is so much better since I installed mine.
