5R55E Reverse Problem

I have an 02' with 120,000 on the clock. When you put it in reverse sometimes it stalls, it has been doing it for about 3 weeks but seems to be getting worse. Is it the converter locking up? What should I try?

The 02 has a 5R55W unless you have the sport model. Does it have a dipstick?

It does not have a dipstick. I thought the 5R55E was behind the V6, and the 5R55W was behind the V8. Am I wrong?

The V8 has the 4R70W, and is a 4 speed. The 5R55W has a one piece design where the bell housing is part of the case, and not a separate part. Maybe a mod could correct the title of this thread?

I know the V8 2nd gen has the 4R70W, but the 3rd gen does to? Any advice on the stalling?

The solenoid blocks have known issues. Since you have over 100k miles, I would recommend replacing the solenoid block, flash the PCM, and install a new tune.
