Well i attempted the solenoid replacement on Saturday. I dropped the pan only to find what i think is a piece to a broken belt, and something else i am not sure about. So needless to say replacing the solenoid pack is not going to fix the issue.

My question is this..... should i rebuild or go with a re-man??

I found a re-man that carries a 5yr, unlimited mileage warranty shipped to my door for $1000. The warranty doesn't cover removal and reinstallation if something goes in it.

I have yet to inquire at a tranny shop as to cost on a rebuild or the warranty. I suspect that they will remove and install the re-man for between $500-$700. I would suspect the rebuild to be around the $1500-$2000 range, correct??

My other question is how complicated is it to remove and reinstall this tranny?? I am a fairly accomplished backyarder but i have never removed an auto trans. I have done manuals several times and i suspect it is the same. Is there a sticky out there that details the process??

Thanks in advance to all those that reply.

The transmission is bolted in, so you only need some swivel sockets, deep, and regular sockets, and extensions to remove it. Sometimes shops quote a low price on a rebuild to get you in, they they double it after they open it up to say that it needs more than their original quote.

I figured its just bolts and some heavy lifting to get it out. What about alignment?? Do i have to unbolt the torque converter to pull it out?? Do I need to pull apart the exhaust?? They re-manned tranny isn't shipped with fluid, how do i get the correct amount of fluid into it?? I think it takes like
1 1/2 cases, correct?? I bought a hand pump for the solenoid job, will that work??

I know a lot of questions, but know any info is appreciated. Thanks.

The torque converter has 4 nuts that have to be removed before you could disconnect the transmission. The catalytic converter could be removed too. There is a sticky thread in the transmission section called the 5R55W fluid fill that explains how to refill the transmission.

So how much fluid fills the tranny?? I if get this remanned one it will come empty.
