my 2002 mounty's tranny is starting to act up. I had this transmission rebuilt almost 2yrs ago. The place that did it is no longer in business (my luck).. It is starting to slip between 2-3 shift, it really slips when it down shifts then you go. It kind of hesitates but if you let off the gas it will shift quickly. Everything else works great in the trans. I just started to do this last week and I have only drove it 3-4 times since. It does not throw any codes or the OD light does not flash.. What could be causing this??? I need to diagnose this ASAP...

THANKS

thanks.. Just read the whole thing. If it was low on fluid do you think it would just flare in 2-3 shift?

Holy crap... I just got the car in the air and the locking nut closest to the tail shaft is backed out. There is 1/4 gap from the nut to the housing and can be turned by hand... This looks to be my problem, (I HOPE).. the adjusting nut can also be turned by hand, i only moved it a bit and screwed the lock nut in by hand. Im gonna tighten it and go drive it.

Well I guess the automotive gods are smiling on me today.. It shifts nice and firm now and hold just fine when downshifting.. I guess for once it was an easy fix..
