5spd - hesitation going into 2nd gear

When I start off in the morning it is fine, after a few shifts there is a one second delay before I can get it into second gear. Does not seem to mattert if I shift at 3200rpm or 2000 rpm. It is literally .08 of a second before the tranny will let me in. all others are fine. Even 3 to 2 is fine. 1st to 2nd is the problem.
Any ideas?

Mine does this too. From what I understand, the slave cylinder in the M50D transmission is prone to failure and causes this. I'm not sure how much it is to have it replaced, but I assume it's not cheap.

Prob have to do the clutch at the same time. (slave is prob in the tranny instead of being outside it.) I would prob get a centerforce clutch as a replacement.

If you have NO problems shifting into ANY other gear, it is the Synchro's and/or the Gear Selector Ring....I Promise.

I have rebuilt this transmission a few times.

You don't need any more clutch/slave cylinder travel to shift into any specific gear.

I'm definitely not a transmission expert. Occasionally, mine will completely lock me out of any gears when I'm at a stop and I won't be able to shift out of neutral. Quite frustrating!

My mechanic thought that it was the pilot bearing going as it is not 'slowing down the tranny'fast enough to put it in gear. Hmm
