5th Shock on Rear Diff.??

I have a 4dr 99 2wd and there is a 5th shock going from the top of the diff. to the frame? I haven't heard anyone mention this and is it a special shock? Do you have to specail order it? Thanks

If you do a search for "5th shock" you'll find tons of threads. People have taken it off and had no ill effect. No one really knows the point of it I think. Take it off and leave it off. No issues.

Is it bouncing around? I had that. The mount on the axle is cast and can not compress on the rubber bushing. Just reverse the ends of the shock and use the worn bolt on the frame mount.
