Helo there, new here. I just bought a 96 ford explorer sport and am having a few issues. First one I'm hoping would be the easiest to fix is the CD changer is giving me issues. It is the stock 6 disc changer in the center console. I bought the truck yesterday and the cartridge ejected then but today I try and eject it and it just makes a winding noise and it won't pop. It read the CDs that werre in it yesterday but now it tells me "no CD". Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Thanks

Cd Changer problems.

My CD Changer in my 97 EB just went on strike yesterday. Put in brand new cd's but all I got was either a "No CD" message or a "Bad CD" message. To top it off, I had to beat the hell out of it to get my cd's to eject. I have the JBL stereo system in my Ex, and it's been a great system. I like the sound quality, (especially since I upgraded the speakers) and I really dont want to get an after market unit. If anyone knows if the changer can be repaired, Im all ears. Barring that, I guess I'll try to find one on ebay.:salute:

I suggest taking the changer out, opening it up, greasing up all the gears, and slides, and cleaning the laser with some rubbing alcohol.

Cd Changer problems

That sounds like a plan. I'll see if I can do it any good. Thanks for the tip 1996BLKBauer! :salute:

I found out my problem was a CD loaded in backwards. LOL, sounds simple but I ended up having to tear the damn CD changer apart to get it back into the cassette.
