I have the misfortune of having the 60/40 bench up front. Our parents thought that us kids would fight back there, so they bought the 60/40 thinking someone would sit up there. No one ever did, and now the X is mine. Anyway, I went to the junkyard yesterday and found leather EB seats in near perfect condition. Bought them for $200. Anyway, I was thinking about the console since I don't have one. Where is it mounted to the floor? I'm almost certain I don't have the holes where the console screws into. Or do I? Logic tells me I both do and don't. Anyway, I might sell them because I don't want to have to drop the transmission to drill and then get a couple of screws in.

I'll bet you've got them. It would cost Ford too much to create the tooling for two seperate stampings, especially since not too many Explorers were ordered with the front bench seat. One set of holes is right in front of that rear floor vent (you have that, right?). This is what the armrest support mounts to. There's four of them. About a foot in front of those holes are two more, side by side that the front of the console mounts to. You're probably going to have to pull the carpet up to see if you've got the holes. That's pretty easy. Once you've got the seats out, just take the plastic outer trim around the edges of the floor out and pull the carpet back. Good luck!
