79 and Counting.....

Since 2008, I’ve been collecting and photo documenting all the Saleen XP8 and XP6 Ford Explorer Trucks that were built by Steve Saleen.

So far I’ve accounted for 79 trucks out of a unconfirmed and unknown total amount that were actually produced by Steve Saleen from 1998 to 2001.

I believe thus far this is the largest consolidated photo documented registry collection of these trucks that has existed up to this point. The empty folders are for XP8 and XP6 trucks that have been mentioned specifically by serial number by their owners but I have been unable to locate photos of those vehicles. I also believe that there are many more of these trucks out there that I have not been able to collect photo documentation or specific mentions by owners. This is where I hope all of you can help. If you have photos of any of the Saleen (XP8) or (XP6) Ford Explorers that are not photo documented here on my page- please contact me so I can add them to this registry for all to enjoy.

I ask that all please share this post far and wide with others so as many people as possible see this request. I believe with a little luck I should be able to document many more of these trucks before it’s too late.

I feel very sad to say this but many of these special and unique trucks seem to be disappearing and many of them have not been cared for over the years. I hope this collection, this page and the work that I’ve done on my own Big White Explorer inspires others to care for and preserve these vehicles for future generations.

The white one title says XP6 #60.

The black/gold one near the end is Joe 2000's, a well known member of the Explorer X forum.

I own the green front bumper from the last group picture. I'm not sure what the number is, I'd have to look at it.

I think the red one of Chitown is different than the other two red photos (different bumper number). Those two are of the truck I'm still trying to identify. Already have an album of Chitown's

I think that is the only picture I have of Joe's truck, but there should be plenty in the Explorer X forum.

I'm not sure where I got those two pictures of that red one you mentioned. I'd bet on that forum, or linked from there. I only save a few pictures occasionally, when they are special for some reason.

I'll post back about my green front bumper soon, it's still in the box I got it with. He wasn't selling the other parts at that time, later he was selling them all as a group.

XP #1 sold on eBay a while ago. Was in bad shape. Kind of not worth fixing up since had the smaller brakes etc.

One for sale near me Southern California pretty sure already on the list but figured someone might want to know. Half tempted to buy it whats the value in cleaning one of these up ?

Interesting, but you need to know why it has a salvage title. That could be a good price for a nice condition version, but not if it has significant damage, rust, water damage etc.
