Hello fellows,

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I searched the forum and didn't find what I'm looking for.

I'm the proud owner of Jeep YJ Wrangler, and I want to get rid of that crappy rear axle and swap it with the venerable 8.8 that comes in Explorers, getting rear disc brakes in the process.

My question is: what trim/package/engine/tranny configurations come with the 4.10 gear ratio from the factory?

I saw the thread about the axle ratio poll, and it doesn't seem to be a specific configuration for the 4.10s, but I really don't think Ford just picks the axles randomly.

Any help would be really appreciated, since I'm about to start combing the local yunkyards and it would be a lot easier to ask for a specific configuration.

Thanks in advance!!!

Maybe a tow package.?

4:10s were availible in any model I think (not sure about XL)

The only way to know quickly is to look in the drivers door and under where it says axle get the code...

Mine is 45 which is 3:55 open

42 - Open - 3200 lb. Capacity - 4.10 Ratio
D2 - Limited Slip - 3200 lb. Capacity - 4.10 Ratio

there is no set package the 410's came in. you could find a set in a stripped down 5speed sport or a loaded out eddie 5 liter AWD. the only way to know is to check the door code.

Look for either a D2 or 42 axle code..
D2 is limited slip 4.10 & 42 is 4.10 open.
