Just wanted to hear some input on who's running what (aussie, detriot, or lock right). I'm about to throw a locker in an open 4.10 rear, and would like some opinions on whats out there. Thanks

What you're pretty much going to find for the "auto locker" type, is this

Detroit - probably the strongest if you are talking reliability/life, but you have to replace the whole carrier.

Aussie and lockright are pretty similar, Aussie is probably cheaper, so that is what most go with. Neither is "bad" so go with what you find the best deal on. The lockright may have slightly better street manors, but its really a personal preference thing on what is more streetable...

ARB=Expensive but definately :notworthy

Selectable is awesome but expensive. Autolockers are great but at times have funny manners and require some changes in driving style.

After having a locker, if i did it again I would put the locker in first and other upgrades would come later.

yeah theyre proud of ARB's, but they're worth it. even the detriot is on the expensive side, i just don't know if it's a justifiable increase over the aussie.

Are you going to be keeping your 33" tires?

What's your budget?

If you're not going bigger than 35s or so and are on a budget, I'd just put a lunchbox locker in there. I have a Lock Right in my 8.8" right now and have been happy with it. Sometimes it bucks around tight turns but I just push in the clutch to stop that. For a more street-friendly version get the Powertrax No-Slip. If you're not going to go big on tires I couldn't really justify the extra expense of a Detroit.

If you have a bigger budget, go selectable. The ARB, Eaton E-locker, and Ox locker are all good--open when off, locked when on. The Auburn selectable is LS when off and locked when on, but not as good for BIG tires, I hear.
