91-94 and 95-01 Class 3 Hitch interchange??

dad got a 92 explorer in for the crusher and like all the kindly old explorers that come through, I gave it a once over.


noticed it had a class 3 hitch on it which I dont have for my 98 mountaineer....

do they interchange or would I have to cut/weld it to fit??

I'm sure you can pick it up for cheap enough that even if it won't fit right, you can sell it here or something it won't really matter.

Most likely it should work, even if a hole or two needs drilling. I have my 93 bumper bolted directly in place of my 99 bumper. Regards,

It should mount up fine.. The diff between 1st and 2nd gen hitches is that 1st gen need to drill out 1 hole in each side whereas the 2nd gens are a direct bolt on (no holes needed).. So as CDW6212R mentioned it is most likely a simple bolt on.
