a friend of my dads has the van, there is one big thing that between the three of us aren't real sure what is going on. it has dual tanks and from what my dad and his friend trouble shot, three fuel pumps. one pump in each tank and one seated beside the fuel filter. the problem that the guy is having is when he is running the rear tank, the flow back from the fuel injection is running into the front tank and overfilling it. what my dad came up with is there is a plastic housing with the fuel lines running to it from each tank and lines going forward. dad is thinking that is some sort of valve that opens and closes with pressure from the fuel lines because there are no wires or vaccume lines going to it. the question is, why is the fuel from the rear tank back flowing into the front tank?

thanks

...i had this very problem with one of my f250's...it would actually start pushing the gas out of the gas cap...scary as heck...tell them to look for a little unit on the frame between the gas tank and the high pressure fuel pump...it is called a tank switcher...it has no electronics to it and all the fuel hoses run thru it...it is a dealer only item and i beleive it's 105 bucks...i hope this answers your question...:D

...your dad is a smart man...:D

oh man, his head just swelled up, i can hear it. lol. of course his response to anything having to do with ford is damn ford. i thought he was gonna disown me when i bought my ex

...just keep him happy and let him drive your X once in awhile...:D

he doesn't like driving it, only has once. it's too small for him. on the van, it's sitting in the yard still till the tank switcher gets here. gone up to 165 now. thanks for the help again.

...ouch, that hurts the wallet...try calling a couple different dealers...i have gotten lucky that way and have found it cheaper at different dealers...or try napa, see what they come up with...;)
