Can`t tell where it is leaking from? You gotta clean it all up, let it dry and start it up and lay underneath whilst someone turns the wheel back and forth.
Otherwise the wind from driving just spreads it all over and you can`t tell..

Good luck

I concur with ld50. You can see the pump fittings (pressure and return) from the drivers side of the engine compartment. Clean it all up--take it to a pressure washer if you have to and just blast that part of the engine. Its far enough away from most vacuum hoses and electronics.

Spray it liberally with purple cleaner or something similar first before cleaning.

Then start it up and turn the wheel from side to side.

On a side note, it looks easy to replace. The pump is a $45.00 part, the pressure line is a $22.00 part, and the return line is a $12.00 part. All these prices come from O'reillys. If the problem is in the rack, thats another ballgame.

well i found where its leaking... looks like a vertical hose under the pump any ideas what it is maybe reciever?

WHats the power steering rack

I`m really not sure which way the fluid is pumped.

WHats the power steering rack

You might be thinking of Rack and pinion steering, it`s a system like the name implies, A gear moves a rack back and forth to steer, either side of the rack would tie to your wheels.
You don`t have this though, we have the steering box/gear.

Ok got it!

its a hose and ill have a pic up in a minute and im pretty sure its the o ring...

and idea what size to buy?

Hey from # 1 or # 2 in my pic there (your pic)

These don`t have rings, its a press fit type of deal, the flared end gets sandwitched between the nut and the hole.
At least I`m 90% sure.
You should undo it and see what`s what. Check the threads, clean them up and make sure it was able to be tightened all the way. It`s possibble it has cracked under the nut where we can`t see or something...

Last year mine leaked right where ld50 has the number 2. Replaced with new hose, wasnt to bad. That fixed the bad leak, now if I can find the not so bad leak.

thanks guys... actually what i did was buy a whole new hose and just install that... talk aobut a pain in the ass... it wouldnt want to bend at all!

Thank you sir...

Now another problem... MPG!!!

11.47 MPG... aka... 186 on a full tank of gas.... anyone wanna help?

sure.

keep your foot out of the engine compartment! :)

Joe

I started getting about 190 miles per tank on my '91 and check engine light came on

replaced first o2 sensor...light still on

replaced ec sensor? on throttle body...light still on

replaced fuel pressure regulator...presto, Back up to 310 miles per tank

If I had it to do over again i would start with the fuel pressure regulator

cost for regulator was $117

hope this helps

Peace

yea cause my light comes on 2...... so it might be the feul pressure reg?
