I'm in the process of swapping a '94 Explorer automatic transmission in my '91 Explorer that has a 5 speed. I swapped computers and now it idles very bad and triggered the SES light. I peformed the KOEO test and I just need to confirm that the codes have 3 digits. If that is correct, I retrieved 7 digit codes. Can someone verify the '94 computer has 3 digit trouble codes?

Thanks.

Rob

'91 model year should have 2 digit codes. '92 model year (even if built in '91) should have three digit codes. '93 and '94 should put out three digit codes.

I got a little confused: Are we talking about a '91 computer, or did you put a '94 computer into your '91?

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I put a '94 computer in my '91. However, I think I'd be better off finding a '91 computer from an Explorer with an Automatic transmission than using this '94 computer.

Thanks.

A 94 computer is going to be looking for things like a Cam sensor and EGR which the '91 don't have.

If you know how to tell the difference.. I have a '91 computer in my shed.. I don't know if its from an auto or manual though.. Your welcome to it for the cost of shipping.

I'm "guessing" its from an auto trans since the engine it came with had a flexplate and not a flywheel (I'm not 100% sure they came from the same truck)

Did you install the entire '94 engine management system with the computer (sensors, wiring harness, etc.), or are you using the '91 sensors/wiring harness with the '94 computer?-

Mark,
this is the number on mine if it helps determine what yours is:
9108 1003
E9AF 14A624 AA

Please let me know what it will cost to ship the computer to 75703.

Thanks.

If USPS priority mail is fast enough Its < $9 (I think its $8.60).. I already have USPS priority mail flat rate boxes here for the t-shirts. If you need it really fast I could send it from work (Fed-Ex)...

I'll bring it into work with me tomorrow and see if I can figure out if its auto or manual.

the numbers on the gray plastic are the following
9021 1002
E9AF 14A624 AA

The numbers on the white sticker are...
A0Z1
EEC-IV
CSKT NPF 0F061
*9K4AR1107NPY*
EFI-MA35g F07F-12A650-ABB

Does anyone know if this computer is from an auto or manual trans truck?

I got this from car-part.com when I told it I wanted an ECU for a 91 explorer..

Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (R kick panel), AT, Fed, ID F07F-ZA
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (R kick panel), MT, Calif

Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (R kick panel), AT, Calif, ID F17F-VA
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (R kick panel), AT, Fed, ID F17F-YA

According to that, what I have is from a Federal Automatic transmission vehicle.

Let me know if you want it.. I can get it to USPS tomorrow if you like (You would have in Saturday or Monday).. If you need it really fast I'll fed-ex it from work (would cost more than the $8.60 but would be < $15).

Just let me know.. (I'll bring it/box to work just in case you don't answer until I'm at work).

Not yet. I'm checking it for viruses. :)

Seriously though, I've just been too busy, but I think I'll have time tomorrow.

Thanks again and I'll let you know how it works.

I just completed the swap today and test drove it. So far so good. I was a big job but turned out nicely.

Thank you for the computer and I appreciate all the information I've gathered from this board, not just this thread.
