QUESTION: I know that I ought to put some oil in the compressor and turn the unit by hand at least 10 times to lube it up, but do I leave any oil in it or do I discharge all the oil before hooking it up? it is a re-manufactured compressor I bought.
I am replacing the compressor and dryer and orifice tube. I have the parts, I reclaimed the existing r12 with my handy dandy microvac.
I am not converting, i am staying with r12.
I will flush the hoses, but not the condenser unless the orifice tube indicates the necessity as I do not really have the tools...I am flushing the hoses with the flush kit Auto Zone sells.
I plan on replacing the oil (mineral) in the new dryer as per the thread here that describes it. I know the system holds 7 oz, but I will only fill the dryer up with the amount that comes out. I will examine the oil for debris.
I am assuming the the remainder of the oil in the system in located throughout and the amount I replace in the dryer is sufficient?
