'91 Transfer case shifter motor. I know, again

Just trying to get a concensus. OK. It shifts into 4WD high no problem. It does not shift into 4WD Low at all.
I am more then capable to pull the Motor and clean it up as described in many threads. But Does everyone have a warm fuzzy feeling that all it needs is an electrical contact cleaning and I shouldn't have to replace it?
The motor is obviously good..it works for 4WD high. so I'm guessing it's either the Transfer case is stuck. I doubt the P.O. ever used Low. Or I have a serious problem with the SHift motor.
I ask because I have seen used ones on e-bay $20-$50 dollars. I may be able to bargain with a guy but I don't want to buy one if you guys feel real sure mine is repairable.
I can't disconnect it and play with it soon because I had a shoulder operation but I also hate to possibly miss a good deal on the Shfter motor from this one guy.
Please someone tell me that it's always some positioning crap in the motor that needs to be cleaned.

It could be several things... As you already noted since it shifts into 4x4 High ok the shift motor is working just fine. It would seam the 4x4 computer is not allowing the shift into 4x4 low to occur. When you try and engage 4x4 low
is the following true?

1) T-case Already in 4x4 high
2) Transmission in neutral
3) Speed is under 3mph

Speed at zero in driveway.
Trani in Neutral, foot on the brake
Yes, in 4WD high first..Hmmm I think I did it that way.

Maybe high idle?

Make sure that it is in neutral with the break pressed.
The same thing happened to me and the problem was that it was idling to high. The computer will not allow it to shift into 4x4 low if it is not at an idle.

Thanks. Something else to look for. I don't know what the RPM is but it sounds like it's idling about right.

After chasing the 4WD LOW demon for a while and posting a few questions to get my head straight. It ends up it works fine and I just kept doing the wrong thing.

Yes, it's in neutral
Yes, the engine idle is low
yes, my foot is on the brake
NO, I NEVER WENT FROM 4WD TO 4WD LOW.
That was the whole problem I would always switch it out of 4WD high before pushing the 4WD LOW button.
Sorry guys. All my other vehicles are old enough to have the good ole manual Hubs and manual shift lever for 4WD.
