Battery voltage?

I assume that your engine is the 1996 OHV V6 and that you have the automatic transmission.

Have you measured the battery voltage with the ignition off? It should be at least 12.6 volts.

Have you tried to start the engine with the shift selector in neutral instead of Park?

You may want to check Fuse 1 (60 amps) in the Power Distribution Box. Also check Fuse 24 (10 amps) in the Interior Fuse Panel.

Does your Theft light illuminate slowly when Ignition is Off and rapidly when the Ignition switch is in Run or Start?

So I have a update, in-laws got us a new battery, bad news there is no power what so ever in the car. been reading could be PATS, any clue as to how much it would cost to reset that? is it even possible to do at home? if thats even the problem.. checked cables on the starter one was loose so i tightened it up and still no power.. im lost..

just checked the two fuses mentioned #1 in power dis box and 24 in the interior both looked good.

this same thing happened to me last night... the negative terminal was lose. when i would moe it slightly, lights would turn on... the bol on it is stripped but when i just used some electrical tape untile i get new cables.

Tried my cables no go. still no power. checked all fuses that i could find related to pcm and anti theft. looked good.

so do none of your lights work either or is it just the starter? I would check where the ground cable connects to the frame..

get in ur car, turn the key on...dont crank....run the gears slowly though up to 2nd and back down to park...i know it sounds weird but this worked for me once when my car wouldnt crank...someone told me it was something about a neutral safety switch from where i thru it in park too quick

There was no power/lights in the whole car. It's fixed now. What happened was I put one of the bottom wires on the starter relay on the fender on the top post and there was no power or nothing. Got my pops and my uncle to come check it out. Simple lesson label or take pictures before you go taking things apart.
