I have been messing with my '92 ABS system for nearly three months to no avail!!!!! I have had my brakes power bled and have checked all connections. In frustration, I took my X over to Meineke and they checked the ABS computer for codes. It apparently said the ABS Speed sensor or ABS module...that's the one on the top of the rear differential...right? Both my brake light and my ABS lights are on, does this correlate with this finding? How much and where as I just checked out autozone and it was almost 177 with a 41 core value:eek: . I did a search on this and read about perhaps cleaning the sensor, would medical grade alcohol be best for that job?
I really want to get rid of that stupid light- It's driving me nuts!!!!:banghead:
Thanks guys!
Greg

Bump.
anyone?

From the info you povided it is a little difficult to answer your question.
First things first. Are there any other problems/ symptoms except the lights? What are they?
Next, Meineke said its either the sensor or the module. Gee thats 2 of the 3 main components of the system, could they have been any more vague? Did they tell you what code(s) they found?
More info would help.

The symptoms are literally just the lights, the brake system is quick and responsive though I do lack anti-lock brakes. The guy at Meineke wouldn't just give me the codes ( ) because he said that it would put his business in a bad position in case something didn't work out  . After pushing him to tell me, he initially said the speed sensor...then he said the module...so I'm still not entirely sure. What would you suggest for the initial step? Also, where is the speed sensor on a 92?
Thanks!
Greg

Just a quick update. I finally solved it and it WAS NOT the ABS sensor! As I was reading some diagnostic tools on my CD, it said to check out the master cylinder switch.
So, if your red brake and RABS lights are activated, disconnect the electrical connectors from the master cylinder reservoir. Connect a jumper wire from the purple/white to the purple/yellow and leave the connector aloft. Turn the ignition on and if the lights are off, then the reservoir sensor is the source of conflict, not the ABS.
Damn meineke.
