92 Explorer 5.0L swap

Ok. The engines dead....The A4LD is dead...sweet

So here is what i have learned:

5.0L and trans from a 94/95 mustang,91-94 thunderbird/couger
Wire harness from the same vehical.
5.0L Explorer cast exhaust manifolds
AA Aod to transfer case adaptor.

What else do i need??????

I work for Ford as a tech too so i will be able to get alot of parts still for this. I just want to swap the engine over...not make this into a real high dollar street machine.

This is a 4X4 also.

Plus what have i heard about the AOD is a bad choise for the Explorer????I have heard about swapping the internals of a 4R70W into the AOD????Why is the AOD a bad choise for the 5.0L swap into the Explorer. I don't plan on doing big tires or anything.I have BFG 31 10.5 X 15" now. Thats what i will stay with.

you got the basics down. You can go with a 4r70 tranny and AWD and just get manual hubs up front. The AOD and an AA adapter will probibly be the most cost effective to what you are doing. With using those year stans or cougars you get to stay OBD1 so that makes everything ALOT easier. Summit sells motor mounts i beleive for you to use the 5.0. You will probibly need an explorer 5.0 radiatior and a good electric fan.

Sweet. Well i guess I'll be off to the wreakers to find an engine combo.

Has anyone done the 5.0L/aod/EEC4 harness swap out of an F-150????The trans is more heavy duty and AA has the adaptor to put on the smaller stock transfer case from the electronic shift Explorer?????
