replaced , the a/c comperssor last year , this year opened everything up flushed replaced all O-rings new oil and new oriface tube , pumped down charged it up , low side was high with motor off ok ..... started it up low side still high Needle on pressure gauge never moved while compressor is running , compressor does make some noise on left side , im assuming compressor is TOAST , not compressing any thing , all lines are clean free from any thing ,, when flushed i didnt see any garbage in line , except on the oriface tube , any sugestions ?? dont wanna buy a new compressor every year @ 200 bux a pop

What was on the orifice tube? Black junk? It should be fairly clean. If there was a ton of garbage on it, especially black colored, the compressor probably destroyed itself, either due to lack of proper lubricating oil, or running low on refrigerant.

If the tube looked good, and the system held a vacuum, then you might check out the low side pressure switch. If it goes bad or is the wrong one for the system (i.e. R-12 switch on a retrofitted system now using R-134a) it might not cycle the compressor when needed.

If the system was retrofitted with R-134a but the accumulator/drier wasn't swapped out, and the stock R-12 drier was used, it might have caused problems.

umm i know it was running low on refrigerant , the GF used it anyway for a couple of months , yes there was seal material and black on oriface tube , again, compressor was a rebuilt one from last year , i guess time for another rebuilt one .. this year only to replace again the year after ,, yes dryer was replaced last year also .

If the orifice tube had seal material and black stuff on it, that was likely "black death"...the compressor will still work even though it continues to run and destroy itself, and push the debris through the system.

The only solution is replacing EVERYTHING. Compressor, condenser, evaporator, hoses...everything.

I'd go with a NEW factory compressor..they are the same $200 as the remans, and they come with the clutch attached. Tousley Ford (forum member FORDSVTPARTS) has 'em.

You could grab new hoses, condenser, evaporator, receiver/drier, orifice tube, o-rings, etc. through Advance Auto Parts. They have some big online coupons out right now. Use the $40 off $100 coupon on each $100+ part, or pack of $100+ parts, to get a big discount. Not sure if they are still doing free shipping over $75, but if so, that should get you all the stuff you will need at a big savings over paying full retail.
