Hi folks,
I'm Tom and this is my first post. I am trying to ID my front axle (Dana 28,30,35, 44). I haven't got a clue, but I have this series of numbers.
P 176 1 1
44067
These numbers are stamped into the suspension arm portion of the front axle on the passenger side. It has no actual diff cover. It is moldedi nto the suspension arm portion also on the drivers side. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Tom

If this is the stock axle (twin traction beam) on a Ford explorer then it is a Dana 35. It was the only thing available. Auto parts store computers do ask you if its a dana 28 or 35, but it always 35. Someone "thought" dana 28 was an option and every parts computer since has asked if it was a 28 or 35.

If your looking for gears etc, its actually a Dana 35 reverse rotation.

Thanks Mark,
So those numbers don't mean anything I assume?

Those look like BOM numbers and I don't have any books to decipher them.

IIRC, there should be a tag on one of the bolts and that tag would show the gear ratio that was installed from the factory. Its been a long time since I've seen a bone stock front end so I can't remember if it is always on there or not.
