I have a 1992 Mazda Navajo with 46,000 miles on it. About three weeks ago, it started idleing rough, only sporatically though. It will idle fine, then the RPMs drop to about 500 and it idles rough. I will rev it up to around 2000 RPMs and then it seems fine for a few minutes.

It almost seems like it cycles. But I cannot figure it out. It is the MAF or the Throttle Positioning Sensor?

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body, sometimes it makes a big difference. If not, take the air intake off, get a can of air intake cleaner, not carb cleaner, and throughly spray and open and close the butterfly. Then take a non lint rag and wipe it down as good as you can, especially on the butterfly's lower lip, where these throttle bodies build up stuff. Then give the idle valve a couple shots with the straw, should be a hole in the forward side of the butterfly. Starting it will take some cranking on the starter, but its ok. Hopefully this will cure the problems, my Sport had similar problems when I bought it, this cured it.

Thanks, I will give it a try... I hope it works..

Scott
