Recently, my starter went bad and so did my water pump. I took the time and replaced both with brand new hardware. I am still experienceing some hard starting, ie once the key is turned it takes a long time for it to kick over. Sometimes I even have to turn the key twice but without fail it starts the second time. What could this be?

Are you saying that when you turn the key the first time that the engine doesn't turn over? Or are you saying that when you turn the key the first time, the engine turns over (spins) but doesn't actually start.. But on the 2nd try it starts?

If its the 2nd you problably have a bad fuel pump. The check valve in there is supposed to keep the pressure up so when you try to start the truck there is fuel in the rail. To check if this is the problem, turn the key to the on position (listen for the fuel pump).. then turn it off, then back to on, then off then try to start. If it starts first try, its the fuel pump.

If its the first thing (motor doesn't turn over/spin) my best guess would be either a bad ingnition switch OR a bad starter solenoid. There is one right on the starter (which I'm assuming was sreplaced with the starter since it is on the starter) and one on the passenger side firewall (by the battery)..
