Just purchased a '93 E.B. Explorer and want a 4" lift and 33's. I heard rumor that spacers(?) from a f-150 can allow for enuf space for 31" tires. Is there any merit to this rumor? Good Kit Recomendations welcome! Canadian suppliers if possible(shipping). I am not a mechanic. This is going to be a fishing/camping truck. No Extreme Wheeling (yet) but I want a solid machine. I payed $1500 for the 'sploder, and want to get lifted and on good rubber for another $1500-$2000. Is this realistic?

31s will fit stock...f150 spacers give a good 1 inch or so...skyjacker makes a 2-4-6-8 inch kit but every one prefers the superlift 5.5.

superlift 5.5 preferred?

This lift you speak of, it will give me freedom of choice of 33" tire? What about gear ratio's? Where is a good place to get a kit? Does my off-road shop have to do the work, or is it do-it-yerself-able? Are stock Ex rims capable of holding 33" tires? I sure like the look of black rims on black wheels, those riveted rims.
Sorry 'bout the barage of questions! I am pretty excited about this "93!

The cheapest way to sit on 33's is a 2" suspension lift and a 3" body lift. A competent "tree shade mechanic" can do the lifts. I would get either F-150 spacers or skyjacker 2" coils for the front and War-153 shakles for the rear. This 5" lift will only cost about $300 total before alignment.
Your stock wheels can fit 33x10.5 without rubbing. You can squeze 33x12.5 on them but you will rub at full turn/full flex.
The most expensive part by far is regearing. You'll want 4.56 to run 33's. Expect to spend a little over a grand for the gears and installation. You can run on 33's for a while on stock gears (I did for over a year) but you'll lose a ton of power and you'll be accaelerating the wear and tear on all your driveline components.

31s stock, ok. Suspension? Stabalizer?

Is there any suspension purchases that i can make now if i install the 31" sst's that will be a good improvement without blowing my wallet to hell.
Also what about steering stabalizer? Is it important with stock height or not?
