sounds like a wheels bearing, did you replace all 4?

no i replaced the one that was howling it didnt fix any thing. nothing was wrong with the one i replaced. the howling is so LOUD there is no doubt at all it is the passenger front outside of the transfer case.

if it sounds like its from the tcase, then drop the case and see whats goin on.
does the 4wd still work?

no the electric shifter needs messed with it keeps goofin up. i can put it in 4w with a pair of channel locks but tha gets old.it is definately not the transfer case it is outside that i have been under there with it engaged on stands. cv? what else is there?

Wheel bearings was my first thought as well. When you replaced the bearings, you got them torqued right? (16 inch-lbs, can't tell you how many have come on here with them torgued to 16 ft-lbs).

When you replaced the bearings did you inspect the races in the rotor? The spindle? Some say you should always replace bearings at races together, did you replace the races when you replaced the bearings?

Any sign of issues with the brake pads being worn? I have had cars where worn brake pads made their noises when turning like that.

If the hubs are disengaging properly, it wouldn't be a u-joint or anything in the axleshaft, as those things shouldn't be spinning. However, if you still have the auto hubs, you might check to make sure they are disengaging properly. They are known to have issues, and sometimes those issues cause unusual noises.

Maybe the hub is engaging somehow and spinning the axle? You mentioned you put it on blocks? And could still hear the noise on that tire? If I followed your post correctly? If doesn't happen in 4wd I can't see how the u-joints would matter. If it only happens when driving and not on your blocks I'd maybe suspect alignment. Would think your tires would show wear if that was the case also.
