Can anyone tell me if the special socket to remove the nuts on a manual Explorer hub is the same size as the one used on say an 85 F150 4x4 with manual hubs?

I have the F150 socket and it is a 25km drive back to town if I need to get a different one for the Explorer so I am thinking get it while in town today if needed..

Thanks

Checked my socket and it's 68.5mm X 80mm.

Says it works on 1985 and up F150's, 1991 - 1996 Explorers, and some other vehicles so it should work, but double check the socket size if you want to make sure.

Just checked mine also and it’s a PowerBuilt
It’s a 4 lug x 2 1/4 inner spindle nut socket
Part number 648474

I know it works for the 93 explorer manual hubs as that is what I have and it came from the factory that way. The factory hubs blew out and I now have Warn hubs and the same socket still works. It also is the same on used I believe in the Dana 44 axels.

Thanks for the input..

Now to freeze my A$$ off this afternoon changing the bearings on the passenger side. Nice to have a 40x60 quonset to work in, not so nice that it has no heat.

If you have an outlet a small portable heater dose wonders for the chill at lest. Better then changing a heater core out in a snow storm with no cover. Just be smart with any thing flammable in or around the area!

I got to do that one when I first moved to Idaho and lived in an apartment. The wife’s car blew the core so late at night I had to change it so she had heat and defrost to go to work the next day. Talk about cold Brrrr. I had just moved from Calif. And had forgot about that dang white stuff falling but it was no were near as cold as when I lived in North Dakota
