My 94 EB has developed a very weird problem. About 50% of the time I try to start it, it starts up perfectly and the battery reads fine. The other half I stick the key in the ignition and turn, and get nothing, as if the battery was completely drained. I've learned that if I slam my door once or twice and try again, it starts up fine. So it seems that the battery itself is fine, is this a wiring problem?

The second problem is that at idle about half the time, the engine has a violent shake, and the battery meter dances back and forth. After acceleration and at any speed, it runs smooth, but at red lights or when i first start up its bad. Once again this problem is intermittant.

I'm a newbie so excuse me if this has been discussed before, i tried searches but nothing could connect my engine shaking to the battery problems. any advice? thanks

sounds like your battery cables, try a search :)

OH and WELCOME

yeah they don't look to be in very good shape, thanks il give that a shot

Yep what 410 said. Check the cables. They are easy to replace and clean the terminals on your battery before installing the new ones. Water and baking soda work good.

And what 410 said, Welcome to the site!
