Hello All. Quick question. My alternator died this week and I need a replacement. Should I just go the local Autozone/Track Auto and pick up a remanufactured one or should I go to the dealer and shell out the money for a Stock one. Is it worth the difference in price? Thanks.

I think you'll be better off at AutoZone over trak auto in quality.. i don't think it's worth buying at Ford

the reman ones at pebboys are fine.... ford probBLY HAS REMANS TOO...BUT THEY WILL COST LIKE 3 TIMES AS MUCH....

OR GET THE MEAN GREEN ONES....WITH THE 240 AMP RATINGS;)

Thanks for the replies. I looked into the Autozone ones, they got Duralast, Valucraft, and AC-Delco. AC-Delco is the only one I really have used before, does anyone have experience with the other two? Thanks.

Haven't used duralast... but I've heard of the brand

Doesn't matter which brand, I'd recommend going with the one with the longest/best warranty. I got mine at Pep Boys with lifetime warranty for about $70 on my old '91.
