94 explorer makes noise and engine light

I have a 94 explorer I push the engine up to highway speed or up hills, it makes this noise like something spinning or bouncing around. then the check engine light comes on, but after driving about a mile it turns off. anybody know what its doing? please help me

Anytime the check engine light comes on during normal operation, a code should be stored in the computer's memory. See www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html or any of the other available sites with instructions for pulling codes.

Ya, get the code pulled then we can go from there as far figuring out what problem is causing the light to be thrown.
