...What did you take off when you jumped it???..

...Pull the battery out and have it bench tested under load...;)

I took the starter off and jumped it from the battery. I hooked jumper cables to another vehicle too,and all I got was clicking, the battery tested 13 volts with no load

...Did you try a good battery swap??...Jumping thru a bad battery sometimes will result in a no start also...

...You could have a weak starter that can also be bench tested as well as the battery for under load conditions...Your battery could read fine and still not have enough cranking amps to start your truck...I had an 800 cca that tested fine and it only showed 325 cca under load test...

...You may also have a bad solenoid or cables that are corroded inside of the sheathing too...

this is a new starter,I cleaned the battery connections and saw no visible corosion on the battery cables, tomorrow i'll reinstall the starter and run a hot wire to the starter solenoid ignition post to see if that will fire it up ;also going to check for a second ground wire, I only cleaned the 1 the attaches to the starter....thanks for your imput if that fails I'll have to take the battery and have it tested as you suggested

...Be sure to take both the starter and the battery to test...Then you can definately rule them both out of the equation...

...It is very common for Ford cables to look good and be corroded inside the sheathing...You can do an ohms reading for resistence on each cable...If you search there is a thread on this...

...If I'm not mistaken, your ground from the battery should hit on both the motor, and the frame, in one wire...

...Good luck on this and let us know the results...:biggthump

..Any update on this...

Got it fired up this afternoon;had to put another ground wire to the block, man what a nightmare figuring it out; the old starters brushes were worn out, original one though so it was a great one;260,000 miles,so I bought a new one from auto zone.but then was when I started having problems .
THanks for your help, I also had a problem once where the temp guage would not get to normal temperature, replaced thermastat; coolant sensor ,fan clutch etc. ,no heat almost all winter till I cut a piece of plywood and moumted it behind the radiator with an 8in hole cut in the center to keep it from overheating.....problem was the radiator cap, found that out the next winter....replaced it and no problems for 2 years now, again thanks and good luck .... Brad

..... I thought you said you had a new starter???..no problem...

...I am glad it is finally resolved and she's back on the road...And thanks for letting us know the results...:biggthump
