Will it work? I found a really good deal on a used motor $200 they'll pull it. My ex is 2dr 4x4 auto ranger is 2wd auto.

'91 to '94, the 4.0 was all the exact same long block. Worst case scenario, you will have to strip the '94 down to the long block (if the junkyard hasn't already done that) and transfer your '91 stuff onto the '94 block.

My motor has cracked the lower intake and block on the front coolant passage due to a thrown motor mount bolt. So if I would need to use that then Ill look for an ex at the jy. The ranger is from a friend of the family and I know it only has 75k on it

They are basically the same exact thing. You might have to delete the EGR though.

Motors should be the same. The only differences that I know of are in the under-hood layout (battery and coolant overflow tank on opposite sides) and frame width.

Well I guess I'll grab that 4.0 and throw it in this weekend. It's supposed to be in the 60s. I love Texas.

I'm pretty sure you're also going to want the ECU, because they have an EGR system and a camshaft position sensor.
I also know some 1994 4.0 have sequential fuel injection and not batch fire. I don't think that one will, but I'm not sure. You'll definitely want to make sure what all it has.

This didn't happen this weekend. I'm going to do some more looking I really need my ex back. My other vehicle 99 hoe' froze and cracked the block too. So at the time I'm driving the work ranger. I'll be doing both motor swaps soon soon. Really nice weather this weekend here. I don't know how to delete egr have searched here and there to no avail. Now you're talking sequential firing and such. I'm going to stick with a motor from an ex. Last one I got for $500 lasted 35k. She still strong but spouting coolant like a water fountain. These motors with low mileage are hard to find especially with the 5 digit odometer. Which is why I wanted to get the ranger motor its got 6 digit showing 75k.
