- Ranger 93 XLT 2.3L
I bought a 94 Ranger XLT with a 2.3L mazda 4banger. Needed a truck cause of living out in the boonies. I also needed something good on fuel. The truck had those 14" rims with 195-70-14 rubber on em'. Not exactly what I liked on er'. Needed something different.
The rubber on the fronts was looking tired. This is my opportunity. I do love the site for research and got into looking at the tire size charts for what I could fit on the truck. Some of the better advice I read was that it's all ballpark. You really gotta test fit em'.
Not quite as hardcore as most of you guys. Doing things on a budget. So, off to Craigslist in my area and do a search for wheels. Found a few that looked worth a test fit. Some E-mails later and bingo. I found a place about 5miles away and made sure it was ok to test drive the truck with the new/used wheels on it. Oh yah. The wheels are off of a Cherokee. About 80% rubber on em' with an aggresive tread pattern.
Bulk of the story is I went from 195-70-14 to 235-75-15. They fit great and brought my truck up atleast 4". Don't think I could go any bigger without a lift of some kind. Biggest surprise is the improvement in the ride. Figure it will hurt my MPG's in the city. Hoping I can get a bit of an improvement on the Hi-way miles seeing as I do 50miles each way for work.
I tried not to ask alot of already answered questions by reading alot of the threads. Thanx for all the informative posts.
